Attract New Shoppers: Ecommerce Shopping Cart

Last week, my daughter, Tarin, cooked live lobster for the first time.  In fact, she's never seen it cooked; she was clueless as to the process from start to finish.

"Do I need to bring a pet carrier to the fish market?" she asked comically trying to understand how to safely transport two lively lobsters. "Once I get them home, do I fill the tub?" she continued, trying to keep the joke alive. She knew nothing about buying, preparing, cooking and eating a fresh lobster.

She turned to several Internet sites for her research.  Those sites that paid attention to their industry keywords and wrote their site's copy for those keywords were among the first to appear in her Google rankings. They were ranked higher than those who knew nothing about Search Engine Optimization (SEO). She visited them for product knowledge and ultimately to purchase the tools needed for the lobster dinner. She became a customer.  She never met the store (site) owner but found an ecommerce site that had products and product information.

  • Those sites that had a successful online business plan, were more likely to get noticed and convert the browsers into buyers.
  • Those sites that understood the elements critical in a site structure that buyers looked for when making a purchase, were successful.
  • Those sites that were able to engage their customers to build brand loyalty, were successful.
