In Memoriam: Ron Jenkins
Every month the Point of Saler includes a profile of a J.D. Associates’ employee. We do this so that our readers can see the real people who work, often behind the scenes, to help ensure customer satisfaction.
The employee chosen for this month’s profile was Ron Jenkins, senior technician and a 9-year veteran of the J.D. Associates company family. Since he did not like to be in the spotlight, he initially resisted our requests that he provide us with a profile of himself, but finally agreed.
Last Sunday, August 7, 2005, while climbing Mt. Monadnock with 2 of his friends from J.D. Associates, Ron collapsed and died on the mountain. This came as a tremendous shock to everyone here as he was very active, fit and athletic. He was a black belt karate expert, and an avid golfer and skier. We miss him tremendously.
The following profile is in Ron’s own words:
Ron Jenkins
Senior Technician
I started working at J.D. Associates in November of 1996, shortly after I had finished a 6 month training program at Boston University's Tyngsboro campus, geared towards Novell's CNE program.
When I started at J.D. Associates there was only Bill Deery doing all of the technical work as well as most of the support. We were doing late 5 series and early 6 series Retail Pro at that time. About a month later Charlie Wood came on board and proved to be a great asset to our team.
We were pretty young as a company then. Under the guidance of John Deery and Don Capman we have certainly grown. We are now on Retail Pro 8.5 series and for those of you who can recall 5 and 6 series (even 7 series), it's like night and day! With the addition of the custom programming that J.D. Associates has developed, we are now in the “rocket age.”
Computers are finicky at best and can be quite a challenge. They are like temperamental children. One never knows when they're going to act up.
I enjoy working with a group of people who are aware of all the possibilities and rise up to the challenge each and every day and take care of business. That's what we do at J.D. Associates. We always try to serve our clients with the best intentions in mind.
