Retail Pro Tips

Trainer Tip

Have the Dust Bunnies Taken over your Computer?

A Point of Sale system is typically running 7 days a week 10 or more hours per day. We have found that the average life of a Point of Sale computer is approximately 3 years.

You can extend the life by taking care of it just as you would any other machine; it needs servicing and cleaning. Internally, there are fans that need to operate efficiently to cool the CPU and motherboard. If the fans fail or are filled with dust bunnies, it can cause tremendous pain to your daily operations. They can cause your system to freeze up or ultimately completely and prematurely damage your system.

Make sure to vacuum the case and remove as much dust as possible. Periodically, hire a technician to thoroughly clean the inside of the computer.
