A Few Questions to Ponder
– Doug Fleener

I was just wondering…
- When was the last time you thanked your employees for a job well done?
- When was the last time you made a follow-up call to a customer after the sale?
- When was the last time you sent a customer a hand-written thank you card?
- When was the last time you asked a customer on his way out of your store about his shopping experience?
- When was the last time you thanked an unhappy customer for telling you why he was unhappy and giving you a chance to make things right?
- When was the last time you met one-on-one with the employee who is falling short of your expectations?
- When was the last time you shopped your top three competitors?
- When was the last time you gave your top customers a thank you gift?
- When was the last time you role-played with a staff member?
- When was the last time you, not a member of your staff, ran the vacuum?
- When was the last time you had your assistant manager run a staff meeting with you present as a participant?
- When was the last time you reviewed your ROI on your marketing investments?
- When was the last time you reviewed your goals and objectives for the rest of the year? (You have goals and objectives, don't you?)
- When was the last time you surprised your family by coming home early or took an extra day off?
- When was the last time you called someone who's been on your mind?
- When was the last time you sat quietly and reflected?
- When was the last time you read something, realized you've been meaning to do just that, and then did it?
Today's a good day to make it that time.
