Customer Spotlight: Le Beaderie
6 West Broadway #15, Derry, NH
Kathy Cagney Rossi and Rhonda Cairns met while working at a local bead store and became fast friends. Both women brought enthusiasm, energy and excitement to their jobs and decided that opening their own store and sharing their passion for beading and jewelry making was their true calling. They opened their dream store on June 17, 2003. Le Beaderie, in Derry NH, offers supplies and classes that “promise to satisfy passions for beading.”
After working all of her adult life in the legal profession as a legal assistant and guardian ad litem, New Hampshire native Rhonda Cairns decided that with her nest “emptying” it was time for a change to begin working in a more artistic endeavor.
After a very successful 15-year career in New York City as an actress and model, Kathy moved to Boulder, CO for a change of pace. There she flourished as an Account Executive in the transportation industry. After walking into a bead store one day, her life forever changed! She started making jewelry for herself and a new business idea was born. She has sold her jewelry in three juried arts-and-crafts shows and has a long list of loyal clients who request custom pieces.
Le Beaderie is proud to be a part of the ongoing improvements to the downtown Derry Main Street area and the greater Derry community. A regular sponsor of various community events and functions, the owners and managers of Le Beaderie are happy to support their local community whenever possible. Part of the newly renovated Depot Square Merchant’s Row Building, Le Beaderie occupies 1,400 square feet. This includes retail space, and a full classroom.
Le Beaderie is always a “happening place” and receives a variety of media coverage for its efforts to educate and promote the hobby and craft of beading and jewelry making.
Le Beaderie celebrated its 1,000th customer on Wednesday, February 25, 2004 with Pamela Friend-Gwinn. Ms. Gwinn received a Bead Girl tote bag and a $25 Le Beaderie gift certificate for being the 1,000th customer to shop at the downtown Derry store.
Le Beaderie held a private showing and sale for its top 100 clients in February. An exclusive never before seen release of designer David Christensen, the glass beads were a HUGE hit.
Kathy and Rhonda continuously seek out new and exciting products to offer customers. They attend the annual city-wide Gem Show in Tucson, Arizona and seek out unique bead artisans during their personal travels.
