Habitat for Humanity House Dedication in Hudson Sun., 11/21

(Fitchburg, MA)…Habitat for Humanity will hold a dedication ceremony at the new Anderson family home, 3 Old Bolton Road on Sunday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. The dedication marks the completion of the first Habitat for Humanity home in Hudson.

“There is no need for work gloves on this day,” said Habitat for Humanity executive director Maggie Monroe-Cassel. “Just come share the joy and help us celebrate another Habitat for Humanity success story.”

Monroe-Cassel said that this home went up quickly thanks to the large outpouring of support from within the community. “We cannot continue our work without the help from local businesses, hundreds of volunteers and individual donors. This house is the culmination of many people working together, and what an achievement it is.” The event is open to the public, she added.

Principle donors to this project include Avidia Bank, Hudson; Barry Controls, Hopkinton; and the Unitarian Church of Marlborough and Hudson.

For information about the organization or applying for a Habitat home, visit the Habitat website at www.ncmhabitat.org or contact the office at office@ncmhabitat.org or (978) 348-2749.

Habitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts, a nonprofit affiliate of Habitat International, provides safe and affordable housing to families from 25 Central Massachusetts towns whose housing is considered substandard and/or unsafe.

Homeowner candidates are interviewed by the volunteer family selection committee to determine the extent of their need. Once selected, the family must agree to put in 500 hours of “sweat” equity into the building of their new home. When the home is complete, they assume an interest-free mortgage and must be responsible for making regular monthly payments

Although Habitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts is an affiliate of Habitat International, it receives no financial support from International and, subsequently, must rely entirely on donations, grants, and in-kind services.

As part of the culture of J.D. Associates, we believe that we are obligated to give something back to the community in which we live. J.D. Associates chose Habitat for Humanity as one of the human service agencies we support both financially and with in-kind services. Their tireless efforts to provide safe and affordable housing changes families forever. It is a privilege and an honor for J.D. Associates to be of assistance.
